It is a project in which the entire Arriezu family and team are currently committed and involved, but which started when 2013 our CEO and founder, José Félix Arriezu – with studies in Viticulture and Oenology and years of experience in the panorama A national and international wine producer, as part of innovative projects in Mexico and Spain, embarks on the adventure of making and, for the first time, bottling a 100% Verdejo wine from the grapes from its La Sombría estate, located in Pozaldez. fruity, fresh, and authentic, but that preserves the complexity of a good wine.

It is these roots and this vital path that leads us to commit ourselves since the 90s to organic farming, to be able, finally, to produce quality wines that are sustainable, respectful of our surroundings and the environment and, ultimately, consistent with the principles that inspire us.

The best land produces The best wine

Arriezu Vineyards is a young winery born with the vocation of producing the best organic wine with grapes from vineyards belonging to the Rioja and Rueda appellations.

In this way, in San Adrián, it has 72 hectares of its own vineyard assigned to the DOC Rioja, among which the “Los Mejicanos” farm stands out, a 43-hectare plot from which the Ebro Valley and a sea of vineyards are overlooked. and which, curiously, is the origin of more than 25% of the current DOC Rioja vineyard, since for many years it has been an inexhaustible source of vine production for nursery growers.

On the other hand, among the 90 hectares assigned to the DO Rueda that Arriezu has, it is in the “La Sombría” estate – germ of the wine project – where our selection of Pre-phyloxeric Verdejos reaches its maximum expression.

Arriezu tries to respect and protect the grape as much as possible to maintain its essence in the wines it makes; Each vine and each bunch are treated with the utmost care from their origin and, therefore, we adapt to the times and rhythms set by nature, such as the night harvest in Rueda and the daytime harvest in Rioja.
